66th Republic Day celebrations

The Consulate celebrated 66th Republic Day at the Consulate on 26th January at 9.30 A.M. The programme started with unfurling of National Flag and singing of National Anthem after which message of President of India was read out by Consul General. The function was attended by 300 persons which included people of Indian origin living in and around Mandalay. Some Indians working in various private sector organizations in Mandalay also attended the celebration. A cultural progamme of 40 minutes duration was organized by the members of the Indian origin community. The cultural programme comprised of patriotic songs, recitation of motivational poems, Indian traditional ‘Dandia’ dance and a skit on ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan.’

To celebrate the Republic Day the Consulate had organized a painting competition on 24th January for school children of Mandalay. Around 330 students from Myanmar Basic Education High Schools, Monastic education schools and international schools participated in the competition. The prize winners were felicitated during the flag hoisting ceremony on 26th January 2015.
